As the holiday approach many people are starting to plan vacations for businesses everywhere often the holidays do start a little early, and so you must start to plan for the time away. As a busy office worker that means that you must start letting people know important things like when you will be away from the office and when you plan to return. There two important things you must do to make sure people are aware.
First you must set up your voice mail to indicate that you are going to be out of the office for a period of time. Usually this can be done on the last day before the vacation, but it is important to set a calendar reminder that will remind you when you get close to that last day in the office.
Second you should always try and set up a vacation response for your emails. Usually Outlook, Thunderbird, or one of the other email client software programs have the ability to set up your vacation response. If you use a service that is based on the internet, in other words one you have to access through your browser, you will have to go through the email options to set up your away message.
Most vacation messages let you chose the dates of your travel, so it will start the first day of your vacation and will end when you return to the office having spent the holidays enjoying time with friends and family. It is always a good idea to double check your message and remember to turn off the vacation message once you return, since it is probably not a good idea to be wishing your boss a Merry Christmas and Happy New Years in March 2013.
Happy Holidays!
